R. Todd Sherpy is dedicated to serving all legal needs of credit unions and has attained a national reputation for his legal-auditing and compliance work. He dedicates a large portion of his time to training credit unions, having made presentations in 40 states and serving as an author on numerous industry resources. He is general counsel to the South Carolina Credit Union League and consults with the Georgia and North Credit Union Leagues.
In 2005 Todd developed CURES, LLC (Credit Union Resources and Educational Services) to serve the compliance/regulatory needs of credit unions. CURES includes the “Compliance Community Plan” under which credit unions are offered audit and/or continuing compliance services at a significant savings through cooperative participation. Under this plan, CURES provides participants with all electronic policies, procedures, notices, updates, explanations, internal training guides, as well as many forms, from collection and bankruptcy documentation to full member account services guides and forms. In addition to providing compliance resources to credit unions directly, his resources or parts thereof are available via The Forms Company and Minnesota Mutual.
After graduating with honors from the University of South Carolina School of Law, Todd worked for a United States Bankruptcy Trustee for three years. He is a member of the Credit Union Subcommittee of the American Bar Association and the Operations and Supervisory Committees of the Credit Union Subcommittee. Todd has two daughters and is married to credit union executive Trisha P. Sherpy.
